BMW Individual paints are available in four finishes, ranging from playful non-metallics and classic metallics to shimmering pearl effects and sophisticated BMW Frozen paints.
The bold and bright non-metallic paints are strong in their application and elegant in their simplicity, portraying confidence and excitement at first glance. Metallic finishes have a special shine or gloss. They contain very small flakes of aluminum that refract light, and in some cases these flakes are colored, so the finish contains exceptionally deep tints of complimentary hues within a base color. Pearl Effect tones use small flakes of mica, a synthetic material that resembles the sheen of a natural pearl. These refract light evenly and act like a prism, so that the color of the paint appears to change from different angles. BMW Frozen paints have a matte finish, which is very low-gloss and non-reflective in its aesthetic, highlighting the sculptural character of your BMW. Frozen paint uses silicates in a clear-coat finish as a matting agent to achieve a velvety-matte surface effect – they are highly unique and are therefore produced in limited quantities.
Within each of these finishes, there are even more unique treatments that require multiple coats or extended cure times, depending on the specific ingredients and features of each special color. Of particular note is Imola Red, a passionate triple-coat non-metallic paint that lays thick over the stunning contours of your BMW and ranks very highly among BMW’s historical shades.
